YMCI Student Leaders is a dynamic group of Grade 11 and 12 students who serve as positive role models and mentors to our junior students—especially our incoming Grade 9s.
Founded as a proud Memo tradition in the 2023–2024 school year, this leadership program is all about building community, school spirit, and a sense of belonging from day one.
Student Leaders represent York Memorial with pride and purpose. They:
Receive weekly leadership training
Help host major school-wide events such as:
Head Start to High School
Grade 9 Orientation Trips (Camp Green Acres, Snow Valley, Centre Island)
Muskoka Woods Grade 10 Leadership Trip
Visit Grade 9 homerooms to promote school involvement and extracurricular life
Foster a welcoming environment and help new students transition smoothly into high school
Mentor our Grade 9 students
Promote school pride, culture, and community
Our Student Leaders are the heart of York Memo’s welcoming culture. By showing up, supporting others, and helping organize unforgettable experiences, they help turn a new building into a second home for many.
Whether they’re leading a dodgeball tournament, mentoring younger students, or cheering on new Mustangs at the next school-wide event—our Student Leaders lead with kindness, confidence, and Memo spirit.
Applications for Student Leaders go out in December of students' Grade 10 year.
